Pit is the protagonist of the Kid Icarus serial. He first appeared in Kid Icarus for the Nintendo Amusement System in 1986, followed by an appearance in Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters for the Game Boy in 1991. Other than a handful of cameos, Pit didn't make another major appearance until the release of Super Smash Bros. Ball in 2008, and once more in the 2012 Nintendo 3DS title Kid Icarus: Insurgence.
Pit is Palutena's most loyal servant, besides as the captain of her royal bodyguards. Earlier the events of the start game, Medusa turns all of Palutena's angels into rock, only sparing Pit because he couldn't fly. In the original Kid Icarus, Pit appears as a young, Putto-like angel wearing a simple, white chiton, and a pair of sandals and metal cuffs.
